
Iyanu Soyege
Co-President of the African Studies Students Association of McGill University

Iyanu Soyege is Nigerian by blood, Swati by birth and Canadian by residence. She is in her third year at McGill studying Joint Honours Political Science and African Studies. She currently serves as Co-President of the African Studies Students’ Association- an academic association under the Arts Undergraduate Society of McGill. She has participated in the McGill Women in House Program as an Ambassador to the Minister of Parliament Yasmin Ratansi. She has advocated for girl’s increased access to education in sub-Saharan Africa as a Youth Delegate at the United Nations. Her passions include international human rights and women’s political participation. She aims to champion these causes during her participation at the United Nations’ Commission on the Status of Women next month.
